Mr Tom Kearns – Vice Chair
I graduated in English Language and Literature from University College, Galway in 1981. I subsequently did Library and information Science in University College, Dublin and I have worked in a number of Public Service roles in Ireland before emigrating to Britain in 1989. Since then I have worked in the Public Library Service in a number of London Boroughs. I have also worked as an exam invigilator and in Polling Stations on election days. I am married and live with my wife and daughter in Colindale. My daughter is a pupil at St Joseph’s, having started off in the Nursery.
I have served as a Governor since 2009, firstly as a Parent Governor and following that, as a Foundation Governor in what was formerly the Infant School Governing Body. I continued to serve as Foundation Governor in the newly amalgamated St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School.
I am firmly committed to the value of a Faith-based education in a modern setting and I am a strong believer in the value of Lifelong Learning. Education does not stop when we have finished the last exam paper. It is merely the beginning of our journey – a journey which as Catholics we believe will hopefully bring us back to Him who created us, after having led what we hope will be a fulfilling life. Education plays a key role in giving us the skills to help us lead that fulfilling life and make the most of the opportunities that come our way.
